Mobile Ledger ("we," "our," or "the app") is a personal finance management application designed to
help you track expenses, income, and manage your financial accounts. We are committed to protecting
your privacy and ensuring you understand how your data is handled.

Data We Collect
Financial Data (Stored Locally)
The app stores the following data exclusively on your device:
- Transactions: Date, amount, description, type (expense/income/transfer), and
category
- Accounts: Account names, types, balances, associated bank/institution
- Categories: Custom and default spending/income categories
- Budgets: Budget amounts and thresholds
- Ledgers: Organizational groupings for your financial data
- Currencies: Currency preferences and exchange information
- Custom Icons: Any custom icons you upload for accounts
User Preferences
We store your app preferences locally using Apple's standard storage:
- Display preferences (currency format, theme)
- Privacy settings (auto-lock timeout, biometric authentication)
- Notification preferences
- Account visibility settings
Biometric Data
If you enable Face ID or Touch ID authentication:
- We do not store biometric data - Authentication is handled entirely by Apple's
secure enclave
- We only store a preference flag indicating whether biometric lock is enabled
How Your Data Is Stored
Local Storage
All your financial data is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. This means:
- Your data never leaves your device automatically
- Data is protected by your device's built-in encryption
- Data is only accessible through the Mobile Ledger app
iCloud Backup (Optional)
The app provides an optional manual backup feature:
- You can create backups stored in your personal iCloud account
- Backups are encrypted and protected by your Apple ID credentials
- You control when backups are created and restored
- We cannot access your iCloud backup data
Note: Standard iCloud device backups may include app data. You can manage this in your
device's iCloud settings.
Data We Do NOT Collect
- We do not collect or transmit personal identification information
- We do not use third-party analytics or tracking services
- We do not sell, share, or rent your data to third parties
- We do not access your bank accounts or financial institutions
- We do not store data on external servers
- We do not use advertising networks
Data Security
We implement the following security measures:
- Local-only storage: Data remains on your device
- Biometric authentication: Optional Face ID/Touch ID protection
- Auto-lock: Configurable automatic lock when the app enters the background
- Balance hiding: Option to hide sensitive balance information in the UI
- Apple's security framework: Leveraging iOS built-in encryption and secure enclave
Your Rights and Controls
You have complete control over your data:
Access and Export
- View all your data within the app
- Export transactions to a ZIP archive containing JSON files for personal use
Deletion
- Delete individual transactions, accounts, or categories at any time
- Delete the app to remove all locally stored data
- Manage iCloud backups through your Apple ID settings
Privacy Controls
- Enable/disable biometric authentication
- Configure auto-lock timeout
- Hide account balances from view
- Exclude accounts from net worth calculations
Children's Privacy
Mobile Ledger does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. The app is designed for
personal finance management by adults.
Third-Party Services
Apple Services
The app uses the following Apple services:
- SwiftData: Local data storage (no data transmitted)
- iCloud: Optional backup storage (encrypted, controlled by your Apple ID)
- Face ID/Touch ID: Biometric authentication (processed in secure enclave)
- Local Notifications: Reminder notifications (processed on-device)
No third-party services, SDKs, or analytics platforms are used.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by:
- Updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy
- Providing notice within the app for significant changes
Data Retention
- Local data is retained until you delete it or uninstall the app
- iCloud backups follow your Apple ID's iCloud storage policies
- We do not retain any data on external servers
Region-Specific Provisions
For Users in the European Economic Area (EEA)
Under GDPR, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, and object to processing, as well as
the right to data portability. Since all data is stored locally, you exercise these rights directly
through the app's features.
For Users in California
Under CCPA, California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected, delete
it, and opt-out of its sale. We do not sell personal information.
